Editorial Portfolio

The Editorial Portfolio presents a selection of visual concepts and digital illustrations created for international magazines, literary publications, and book publishers between 2019 and 2025. Rather than following a single visual style, the collection explores a range of subjects, moods, and artistic approaches developed around the editorial needs of each publication. Artafen approaches editorial illustration as a combination of visual storytelling, conceptual thinking, and image-making. Each artwork begins with an idea or narrative direction and is developed into a distinctive visual composition designed to communicate a subject clearly while retaining a strong artistic identity. The studio’s work in this collection includes magazine illustration, book cover design, and concept art. Traditional visual references and surreal concepts are combined with contemporary digital painting techniques to create detailed standalone artworks suitable for editorial and publishing environments. Across the collection, the production process focuses on developing the initial concept, refining composition and visual language, and translating the idea into a finished digital artwork. The production showcase provides a selection of these illustrations and demonstrates the range of approaches used across different editorial and publishing projects. This portfolio reflects Artafen’s broader illustration practice, where visual development and storytelling are used to create artwork that can function both as an editorial image and as an independent visual piece.
